Papa Moon, as his grandkids affectionately call him, has a passion for plants and the land that has been passed down through the generations. “Grapes were an experiment,” that has now turned into a fully functioning vineyard and winery owned and operated by Papa Moon himself and his sons. The vineyards and winery sit upon an old feedlot, which was once home to thousands of cattle. The old cattle panels and a few standing corrals are all that’s left. What’s more Nebraska than that? The lot is now home to hundreds of trees, grapevines, and beautiful scenery, all nestled in a valley in Western Nebraska. Natural wetlands and ponds surround the grounds, making a wonderful habitat for a plethora of animals. The grapevines find their home here also. Due to its previous life, the amazing soil produces nutrients for some incredible, award-winning wines. Upon any visit, you will hear laughter, see children playing, be greeted by family and old, loving dogs, and taste one-of-a-kind Nebraska wine.
